Lecanicillium muscarium

Fungo predatore di Rincoti Omotteri Aleurodidi

This product is not on sale

Lecanicillium muscarium (new name of Verticillium lecanii ) is an entomopathogenic fungus belonging to the phylum of Ascomycetes. Of white / yellowish color and cottony consistency, under the microscope the hyphae are visible as bright white filaments.

The fungus is widely used in biological-integrated control programs for its insecticidal action against thrips, white fly and other harmful insects / mites as well as for its selectivity towards useful organisms.

How does it work?

Lecanicillium muscarium plays a predatory action against the juvenile phases of Rincoti Homoptera Aleurodidi, commonly called white flies ( Trialeurodes vaporariorum and Bemisia tabaci ) and Thyoteoptera Tripidi ( Thrips tabaci , $ 1 Frankliniella occidentalis and Heliothrips haemorroidalis ).

In favorable environmental conditions the spores start to germinate and develop the hyphae that penetrate inside the body of the target insect, where they are able to proliferate destroying the tissues, and then grow also outside the body of the insect. Under favorable conditions, after a few days, long white hyphae will appear on the surface of the affected insects. The larval and pupa stages perish before the fungus is visible, becoming a yellowish color with a rough and opaque surface.

Application and dosage

  • use high volumes of water
  • deal in the late afternoon or early evening
  • evenly treat the leaf surface, especially the lower one, in order to obtain the best results
  • use about 2,000 liters of solution per hectare on high crops, and 1,000 liters per hectare on low crops

Conditions of use

Although its use is very similar to a common treatment with plant protection products, it is important to remember that it is a living organism that needs suitable environmental conditions for its development. Lecanicillium muscarium requires a temperature between 18 and 28 ° C and an average relative humidity of 70% for a few days after application.

Benefits of use

Its application is easy to use as it is distributed with water as a normal phytosanitary treatment. But there is talk of a natural product, compatible with useful organisms and pollinating insects, safe for people, the environment and animals. In addition, the fungus performs a predatory action against the target insects and for this reason, unlike the interventions with plant protection products, the harmful insects do not have the possibility to develop resistance.

Lecanicillium muscarium è un predatore di

  • Rincoti
  • Omotteri
  • Aleurodidi

  • utilizzare alti volumi d’acqua
