Aphidius ervi

Imenottero contro le infestazioni di afidi

This product is not on sale

I am aphididae, of European origins, employed in programs of biological control on ornamental and horticultural crops (for example roses, strawberry, pepper, aubergine, tomato, etc.) against infestations of aphids . The adult stage measures 4-5 mm and has a blackish body with long antennas typical of the brachonids.

Controlled adversities:

  • Macrosiphum euphorbiae
  • Aulacorthum solani
  • Acyrthosiphon pisum
  • Myzus persicae

Aphidius ervi is a solitary parasitoid, its larval cycle is fully expressed inside the parasitized aphid.

The strong ability to identify sites for the settlement of aphids, in which to lay eggs, is a typical feature of adult females of this aphid, in fact, with rapid and singular movements of the abdomen transfer their egg into the chosen aphid. Later the victim, now parasitized, is slowly degraded by the young larva of Aphidius in development, and then finally swelling assuming the characteristic appearance of "mummy" brownish.

The use of this parasitic aphid is very effective even with moderate levels of infestation, due to the specificity of its action against aphids, therefore also early intervention with minimal doses, starting from the period in which the first appearances of aphids are expected , manage to hinder the invasion. Sometimes, if the infestation is massive and in an advanced stage, the combined use of this aphid is advisable with Adalia or Chrysoperla.

Aphidius ervi controlla:

  • Macrosiphum euphorbiae
  • Aulacorthum solani
  • Acyrthosiphon pisum
  • Myzus persicae
