Nasonia vitripennis

Insetto imenottero predatore di mosche

Small hymenoptera about 2 mm long, parasitoid of flies . Its function is mainly expressed in zootechnical installations and places characterized by the presence of litter and animal dejections.

Controlled adversities:

  • Flies

The Nasonia vitripennis is a parasitic hymenoptera of fly pupae, in which it lays its eggs; the life cycle of the fly is thus interrupted and new Nasonias will emerge from the affected fly pupae.

Each adult female can live for about 15 days and in this time also 300 new individuals will be born, who will actively seek new parasitic fly pups.

It 'a gregarious parasitoid (because it lays more eggs in each pupa of fly), which facilitates a faster settlement and population in the environments in which it is introduced. It is used in all those places where flies lay eggs and the presence of their larvae is high: manure, stables, stables, chicken coops and farms in general, landfills and ecostations for the conferment and transformation of the humid.

Nasonia vitripennis controlla:

  • Mosche
