Acaro fitoseide predatore di aleurodidi e tripidi

Phytoseid mite native to the eastern Mediterranean, very suitable for hot climatic conditions, predator of aleurodidae and thrips . It is able to easily settle in different crops such as peppers, aubergines, cucurbits and others, especially in the hottest and brightest seasons.

Controlled adversities:

  • White flies (eggs and juvenile forms)
  • Tripidi (larvae)

Like other phytoseids of the same genus, from which it is difficult to distinguish, its body is pear-shaped and white hyaline and can change according to the diet. Its diet is generalist: it feeds on aleurodidi, tripidi, but also other mites, eggs of lepidoptera, pollen and, in the absence of other sources of food, honeydew.

Well acclimatized in the warm and bright seasons, in winter it tends to decrease its performance. The cycle of development is rather rapid and it is known a strong demographic response in the presence of greater availability of pollen or prey. Its main use is that in programs of biological control against white flies and thrips, where in the conditions of greater risk it is recommended in combination with other antagonist insects with more specific action (in particular Orius and Eretmocerus).

The quantities used generally vary from 25 to 100 individuals per square meter depending on the degree of infestation. It is mainly used on vegetables in protected cultivation (cucumber, strawberry, aubergine, pepper) and ornamental florals (gerbera, poinsettia, rose). We recommend starting the launch program very early.

Amblyseius swirskii controlla:

  • Mosche bianche (uova e forme giovanili)
  • Tripidi (larve)
